Immigration to Canada Documents |

For almost a decade (1992 – 2001), Canada was “the best country in the world to live in”. Canada had moved back to the 8th position recently, however Canada has recently moved up to 4th position in the United Nations’ human development survey, and it is now above the United States (only below Norway, Sweden and Australia).
According to the United Nations survey (2004), life expectancy in Canada in 2002 was 79.3 years, compared to 78.9 in Norway, 80 in Sweden, and 79.1 in Australia. Other countries considered to have “low human development”, have a life expectancy of 48.5 years (Mali) and 46 years (Niger). Canada is one of the countries with the highest life expectancy in the world.

Canadian Government Promotes Recognition of Immigrants' Qualifications |
|
Canada's government has enacted a number of strategies in the past several years intended to specifically address its effort to improve the integration of immigrants into Canadian society. A large part of this overall effort is the improvement of the recognition of foreign credentials in Canada. By improving the recognition of such international credentials, the government seeks to improve the success of Canadian immigrants quickly finding work in the fields of their expertise.
As part of the effort to improve credential recognition, the government has recently introduced a new resource directed to Canadian employers. Integrated in to the Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO), the Employer's Roadmap is intended to aid employers in meeting their labour needs more effectively, while allowing skilled newcomers to apply their expertise to work in Canada more quickly. The Employer’s Roadmap derives from a partnership between the FCRO, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), and The Alliance of Sector Councils (TASC).
Speaking about this new resource, Canada's Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism states that “The Government of Canada is committed to improving the labour market integration of internationally trained workers – this is essential to building a strong Canada: socially, culturally and economically. Employers are key partners in helping internationally trained workers find jobs in their areas of training, and this resource makes it easier for employers to assess their qualifications.”

Canada may fast track business visa applications |
|
Sun Media reports that the immigration department is working on a plan to fast-track some business travellers to Canada. Business visitors will then be able to obtain visas much faster than other visitors. If the plan is put in place employees of established companies that have operations in Canada could be able to get visas in about one or two days. “As we recognize that business is important to the economy of Canada, we’re looking at streamlining the process for business visitors, where we can use the key links between companies that we know exist and are already well-known to the mission, to streamline those processes,” assistant deputy minister Claudette Deschenes told members of Parliament’s immigration committee.

Immigration to Manitoba growing in Canada |
|
The province of Manitoba achieved the highest annual immigration rate in Canada as a record number of newcomers settle there, Statistics Canada reported yesterday. In recent years, Manitoba has been recruiting immigrants to avert a predicted labour shortage. As a result, more than 50,000 newcomers settled in the province between 1999 and 2006. The province plans to boost immigration levels even more over the next decade. By 2025, Manitoba will depend solely on immigration for population growth with declining birth rates and an aging population. “We need to have a dynamic immigration program if we’re going to continue to grow Manitoba and grow our economy.” Labour and Immigration Minister Nancy Allan said in an interview. September’s Statscan report found that immigrants who settle in Manitoba have been fortunate - they tend to get jobs more quickly and easily than those in the rest of the country. To support new immigrants, funding for settlement services, such as language, interpretation and intercultural training programs in the province has more than doubled in the past year and a half. > Contact our licensed immigration consultants to assist or represent you for your immigration.

Canada small business financing program |
New in Canada's Economic Action PlanThrough Canada's Economic Action Plan, the federal government increased the maximum loan amount under the Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) from $250,000 to $350,000 and to $500,000 for real property. Lending institutions with a portfolio above $500,000 will also be allowed to claim reimbursement on losses of up to 12 percent of the value of their portfolio, up from the current 10 percent. In addition, a package of regulatory amendments has been developed to ease the administrative burden of the program.
About the ProgramThe Canada Small Business Financing Program helps small and medium-sized enterprises access financing. Industry Canada administers the program in partnership with a network of private sector lenders, with over 1,200 points of service across all provinces and territories. Lenders are responsible for all credit decisions and for making the loans. As the government covers a portion of eligible losses due to default, the CSBFP encourages lenders to offer loans they would not otherwise make.
How It WorksFinancial institutions deliver the program. The government does not participate in lending decisions. Entrepreneurs should discuss their business needs with a financial officer at any bank, Cassie popularize or credit union in Canada. The financial officer will review the business proposal and make a decision on the loan application. Once the decision is made to offer financing under the program, the financial institution will register the loan with Industry Canada.
Who Is EligibleEligible institutions include small businesses operating for profit in Canada, with gross annual revenues of $5 million or less, excluding farming businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and charitable and religious organizations.
